No no no - keep talking. I'm still listening

Yes, I send over 3,000 txts and 250 emails monthly and am a compulsive mobile device checker/user.

Yes, during dinner, I am inclined to reach for my phone and check the notifications of  new messages and/or information being received.

Yes, if we're in the car for any length of time, I may go silent and indulge in a little mobile connectivity.

Yes, if we're debating an issue and I need more resources, I will stop to Gooooogle the topic and educate myself.

Yes, I receive complaints.

BUT I'd never utilize my mobile device in the midst of serious conversation or in sensitive situations.

AND that sucker doesn't even make an appearance when I'm on a date or having QT.

AND I'd never forsake your company solely for my mobile device.

AND I keep my phone securely in my bag when in company that has specifically asked in the past that I "put the phone away".  It stays away.

...so YES, I realize that my phone usage can be considered rude and that the exceptions I make may not be adequate BUT lately I've been practicing leaving it in my bag when socializing.  I've been successful thus far AND I don't like it :p

WARNING To all my fellow compulsive mobile users: Hazardous Materials Below

"Send the right signal by giving dinner partners your undivided attention with this innovative, service-blocking hanky made with silver fibers that effectively block incoming calls and texts. "My phone is off for you," says it all, so you can, too. Cut, sewn, and printed in the USA of fabric made in China. 55% silver, 45% nylon. Phonekerchief fabric is silver-grey in color.  Exclusively at  UncommonGoods."

Lost Boys of Sudan

"Orphaned by a tumultuous civil war and traveling barefoot across the sub-Saharan desert, John Bul Dau, Daniel Abol Pach and Panther Blor were among the 25,000 “Lost Boys” (ages 3 to 13) who fled villages, formed surrogate families and sought refuge from famine, disease, wild animals and attacks from rebel soldiers. Named by a journalist after Peter Pan’s posse of orphans who protected and provided for each other, the “Lost Boys” traveled together for five years and against all odds crossed into the UN’s refugee camp in Kakuma, Kenya. A journey’s end for some, it was only the beginning for John, Daniel and Panther, who along with 3800 other young survivors, were selected to re-settle in the United States."

A few years ago, I was moved by this documentary, God Grew Tired of Us. Yeas later, the crisis remains.

Forty-Four

Happy Inauguration Day, everyone!!

I'm at work right now, however, no one in the firm is working. LOL We're having an "Inauguration Day Brunch". The TV in the larger conference room is tuned in to the most current media coverage. The electricity in this place is amazing.

And I cannot stop crying! LOL Every time I see a picture of President Obama, I weep! I'm overwhelmed and excited and I'm praying. I'm just too happy and I'm just too excited to put this blog into eloquent, articulate, complete and accurate words.

All I can really say is:
Yes We Can

What Shall I Say...

Certain that I would have sooo much to say/report/theorize, I remain too...umm...too happy to really form coherent sentences about President Elect Obama. "Happy" is such an understatement, it almost seems like a slap in the face.

I was unable to be in Chicago on Election Day so while my sister, brother-in-law and I watched in my living room, my sister and I took pictures off of the TV. LOL It's the closest we could get to being there.
The air feels clearer already. Do you feel it?

Help Has Arrived!

Thanks be to God for He always causes us to triumph!

My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of cheap gas! "Where hast thou set your eyes upon such a heavenly sight?" you ask? Why, at Shell Gas Station! If you live in the New Haven area, give thanks to God for the marvelous things He has done at:

Shell Food Mart
141 Willow St
New Haven, CT 06511

As if this manna is not proof enough that God is in the prayer answering business, I heard my bro-in-law, Jason, saying that this station is now at $2.99 per gallon gas! TWO DOLLARS AND NINETY-NINE CENTS PER GALLON OF GAS!!! I know Jason would never lie to me but I will not believe this until I see it! Upon sight, I will take a pic and share with you all because I'm sure you cannot register "$2.99 per gallon gas in New Haven, Connecticut" as a fact either. Stay tuned...

November Four

People that don't vote annoy me. Make my eyeballs itch. Most want you to ask "why don't you vote?" so they can spout there narrow-minded, often diluted, contaminated and inaccurate "theoretical" malarkey. I don't ask. Such rationale does not exist and I can't be bothered. I simply say "really..." and look at him/her through squinted, itchy eyes.

Recently someone with whom I share blood tried to explain why he doesn't vote. Rather why he's not voting in this election (of all freakin' times to vote!) His reasoning is still unclear to me because as he was speaking, my ears were involuntarily closing up. It was similar to how one's body can reject a foreign element such as an organ or medication. My body rejects foolishness.

People! Have mercy on my eyeballs please. Click
here or here and save me money on Visine so I can buy these.

Just do it now. You'll feel wonderful and great and accomplished afterwards. I promise.

I Love....

my vote because it counts.
