Cookery

Don't you get excited about new recipes? I surely do! I usually like to try one new recipe a week.
I love copy-cat recipes although I've done a few. One that I can remember was a Sweet Potato Casserole, which turned out fantastic and I've developed my own version of the original. I cook this every Thanksgiving and Christmas, and whenever I have requests for it. My uncle faithfully requests it for his holiday dinners. I take orders, y'all! LOL The other was a Popeye's Biscuits recipe. I didn't really like it. Too much Bisquick. My family loved them though. So hey, someone was happy. That's all that matters. I've been looking at this copy-cat recipe for P.F. Chang's Singapore Street Noodles. I think I'll try that this week. In case you want to try it as well, you can find it Here. P.F. Chang's is amazing so I don't see how this could be bad. I'll let you know.

I've posted a few of my favorites recipes for you to try too. They're over there in the right column. I'll switch the recipes around every now and then. If you do try them, let me know what you thought, the results, if you made any changes, what you served with the recipe. As you will see, I love a variety of flavors. I especially love Asian food and exotic spices.

I was thinking the other day about all the recipes I've tried. I remember being about 8 years old when I tried my first recipe on my own. It was for something called a Chocolate Surprise Ring or something like that. Basically it was Hershey's Kiss wrapped in biscuits from the tube, stacked on top of each other to create a ring, drizzled with melted butter and baked. IT WAS DISGUSTING!! LOL I hated it! I'm sure I did something wrong. I was sooo disappointed...until I realized that there was chocolate inside that doughy, flaky mess. I ate all the Kisses and trashed the rest. The was the first of many tragedies. I'm sure I did something wrong. Actually, maybe I didn't. Thinking about it now, that doesn't sound good at all!! LOL

I found this video online of a girl, maybe about 10 years old-ish. It's called "Shamari and Culinary 4 Kids". She makes recipes without using the stove. How cool! I'd like my niece to see this. She loves helping in the kitchen. I searched YouTube and it turns out there are many children's cooking videos. If you have children that love to cook, watch this video with them. I'm sure they'll love it too.

Enjoy!
